Starbot was a bot for the kaboom server written in JavaScript using BotKit, heavily inspired by HBot and RecycleBot.
It followed a rolling release cycle with frequent resets in the name of performance, security, or other changes TFTWPhoenix getting bored.
The Starbot prefix used to be '\' before it became '$' and then was rather recently changed to 'sb!'
Starbot has had source-available releases, namely V6, OpenStarbot and LibreStarbot, however the main project remains proprietary.
Starbot used to feature a locking system, however that has since been removed.
Instead of a typical integer-based permission system Starbot uses permission nodes such as general.help.
BotKit
BotKit is a library for creating Minecraft bots developed by MadelynWith5Ns for use in Starbot. It is built on top of node-minecraft-protocol.
It features a minimalist design, leaving most specialization up to the bot author.
