Mountains of Lava Inc. (also known as BreakBlocks or BreakBlocksMC) are a group of script kiddie[1] griefers who operated the Skynet bot from October 2024 to January 2026. They are also responsible for maintaining Trouser-Streak.

Skynet

A kaboom clone being "terminated" by Skynet

Skynet was a bot that joined offline mode servers using the usernames of players who didn't opt out from being displayed in the server list. These usernames were presumably collected from a server scanner ran by the same group.

Offline mode servers were naïvely detected by joining the server instead of using the UUID version number which will be v3 for regular cracked servers and v4 for regular premium servers.

It is possible that this naïve offline mode detection method also doubled as a way to detect if a certain username had operator permissions. On Kaboom, this is true for all users upon join.

Behavior

Skynet would perform a series of actions upon joining the server:

  1. Changing their gamemode to creative
  2. Enabling immediate respawn
  3. Enabling mob griefing
  4. Enabling fire ticking
  5. Setting the difficulty to hard
  6. Add scoreboards claiming that the server was "TERMINATED BY SKYNET"
  7. Add teams advertising their Discord server in the suffix
  8. Save the server

Original

  1. Kill the player
  2. Disable the admin command logging gamerule
  3. Set the random tick speed to the signed 32-bit integer limit in a failed attempt to crash the server

Revised

  1. OP another scraped username
  2. Kill the player
  3. Repeat from top with the username that just got opped

Notably, no grief would occur at this stage, besides the original revision's attempt to crash the server and scoreboard/team spam.

One theory is that the bot acts as a scout for servers for human operators to grief, although this may not be the case for the original revision of the bot as it attempts to crash the server, which would leave it impossible to grief for some time.
