DDoS attacks are a form of cyberattack perpetrated by smart people who do not care enough to make a Minecraft/Kaboom specific exploit, when, saturating the link is usually much easier.

A cybercriminal acquires access to a considerable amount of devices, usually IoT devices like routers (a botnet) and then rents those devices out to other cybercriminals to perpetrate denial of service attacks or for use as residential proxies.
